In the fall of 2013, the city of Baton Rouge was rocked by the senseless killing of 38-year-old Shelby Holmes. A native of New Roads and a resident of Baton Rouge, Holmes was a beloved figure, known for his infectious smile and his job as the assistant box office manager for the Baton Rouge River Center. His life was tragically cut short on the night of October 21, 2013, when he was shot while walking home along Braddock Street.
