Summary based on 4 sources
Logan “Tazz” Morales was a 20-year-old male Fresno resident whose life ended in a shooting on the night of December 29, 2020. At about 10:30 p.m., Fresno police officers responded to reports of gunfire near Minarets and San Pablo avenues in the Pinedale area of northwest Fresno. When officers reached the scene, they encountered a black Dodge Charger that had crashed into a parked vehicle. Morales was found behind the wheel suffering from gunshot wounds and did not survive. His killing was recorded as Fresno’s 74th homicide of 2020, during an unusually violent year for the city.

Later reporting described Morales as having sustained multiple gunshot wounds inside the Charger. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have never been publicly explained in detail, and investigators have not announced a motive or publicly identified the person or persons responsible. The available reporting does not establish that Morales’ killing was connected to another homicide that occurred in northwest Fresno earlier the same day.

Morales had been born in Fresno on June 15, 2000. He attended Bullard High School and later spent a year at Fresno City College. Family memorial information described him as creative, funny and joyful, with interests that included drawing, painting, dancing and music. Reporting after his death said he had completed his first year of community college and had been considering entering the military, leaving his family mourning plans and ambitions that ended with the shooting.

The investigation remained unresolved as the years passed. Nearly a year after the killing, Fresno-area reporting said the case was still under investigation, while Morales’ family and friends continued honoring him through vigils and a community mural commemorating people lost to violence. By September 2026, almost six years after the shooting, his family was still publicly seeking answers about who killed him and why.

The case received renewed attention in September 2026 when Valley Crime Stoppers offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Morales’ killing. Public reporting at that time continued to describe the homicide as unsolved. No arrest had been publicly announced, no suspect had been publicly named, and there were consequently no reported criminal charges, trial proceedings or convictions connected to his death. Authorities continued to seek information from anyone who might know what happened that night, allowing tips to be submitted anonymously through Valley Crime Stoppers.
