On a late Friday morning in New Orleans, on March 30, 2012, the life of 23-year-old Tommie Thurmand Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in a brazen drive-by shooting. Thurmand was behind the wheel of his BMW, driving on South Carrollton Avenue near the intersection of Palm Street, when the violent attack occurred around 11:40 a.m.
