Mark Anthony Fisher, a 25-year-old male, was fatally shot on the night of October 7, 2019, in Banning, California. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Wyte Way, where Fisher was struck by multiple gunshots. According to reports, he was shot three times in the face and once in the chest. His father, Michael Fisher, stated that the assailants approached his son to ensure he was dead before firing the final shot into his chest.
Authorities identified two individuals as persons of
interest in connection with the homicide. Abel Edward Martinez Jr., a 23-year-old male from Beaumont, and Ashley Marie Phillips, a 27-year-old female from Banning, were both taken into custody. Martinez was arrested on suspicion of murder, while Phillips was booked on an unrelated felony warrant. Martinez was apprehended at the Good Night Inn in Redlands with assistance from the Redlands Police Department and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team. Both suspects were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
Fisher, a father of two young boys aged 2 and 5, was mourned by his family, who sought financial assistance for his funeral expenses. The case drew significant attention, and Martinez was scheduled to appear in court following his arrest. Authorities continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Fisher’s death, seeking justice for the young father whose life was tragically cut short.
