Fabian Garcia Barajas, a 20-year-old resident of Pomona, California, tragically lost his life on April 3, 2018, in El Monte, California. Barajas, who worked as a machine operator, was found dead in his white Infiniti G37 sedan after it crashed through a security gate outside a warehouse on Valley Boulevard. The Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed that Barajas died from a gunshot wound to the back.
He was discovered slumped behind the steering wheel, and his death was pronounced at the scene shortly after midnight.
The investigation revealed that Barajas had been shot about a block away from where his car was found, at the end of a cul-de-sac on Gilman Road. Witnesses reported seeing a man, described as a Latino between the ages of 25 and 30, running away from the scene. This individual, who was wearing a black Dodgers baseball cap, black jacket, and dark pants, was identified as a person of interest in the case. Despite these leads, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.
