In the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, on the evening of December 1, 2010, 19-year-old Torrance Massey, a former high school quarterback, was fatally shot. The incident occurred as he was sitting in the driver's seat of a car on General Meyer Avenue, shortly after attending a basketball game at his alma mater, O. Perry Walker High School. A passenger in the vehicle with Massey was also wounded in the shooting but survived.
