Patricia Garcia, a 58-year-old domestic violence advocate from Chula Vista, California, was tragically killed on February 2, 2018. Garcia, who had dedicated 12 years of her life to helping families in crisis through her work at South Bay Community Services, was found dead in her home alongside her niece, Aura Mancilla. The Chula Vista Police Department identified the suspect as David Bell, the boyfriend of Mancilla. According to reports, Bell shot both women in separate bedrooms of the home before fleeing the scene.
The investigation revealed that Bell had driven to Norwalk, California, approximately 115 miles from the crime scene, where he was later found dead in his car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Bell had contacted 911 and family members to confess to the murders before taking his own life.
The police did not find any signs of forced entry into the home, suggesting that Bell was known to the victims and had access to the residence.
