Ernie Perez Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Pico Rivera, California, tragically lost his life on January 28, 2018. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Perez was shot and killed in the 4700 block of Durfee Avenue. The incident occurred around 7:54 p.m. when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they found Perez lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his torso.
Despite their efforts, Perez was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:08 p.m.
The investigation into Perez's death revealed that shortly before the shooting, there was a disturbance at a restaurant located in the 9400 block of Beverly Boulevard, approximately a quarter of a mile from where Perez was found. However, it remains unclear if the disturbance is related to the shooting. The authorities have not identified a motive for the shooting, nor have they provided any suspect information. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has urged anyone with information to contact their Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers to assist with the investigation.
As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects publicly identified in connection with Perez's murder. The case remains open, and investigators continue to seek leads that could help solve this tragic incident.
