Arthur Samuel Romero, a 51-year-old resident of Covina, California, was tragically shot and killed on October 21, 2017, in the 18800 block of Elizondo Street in the South San Jose Hills area of the San Gabriel Valley. The incident occurred around 7:49 p.m. during what appeared to be a social gathering at a private residence. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Romero was found lying on the sidewalk outside the house, while another victim, Roberto Diaz, 32, was found in the
driveway. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the shooting.
The investigation into Romero's death revealed that there was a party at the house, but by the time deputies arrived, the attendees had fled, leaving only the deceased behind. The homeowners reported hearing gunfire but did not witness the shooting or know what led to it. They have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, either by contacting the Homicide Bureau directly or through Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous. The lack of concrete leads has hindered progress, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Arthur Samuel Romero and Roberto Diaz.
