Kenneth Lynn Peevy, a 27-year-old man, was tragically shot and killed on July 17, 2015, in the 1600 block of West 109th Street in Westmont, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Peevy was found in the front yard of a residence with a gunshot wound in his upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:34 a.m. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about shots fired and discovered Peevy upon arrival.
The incident is believed to be gang-related, although no specific suspects were identified at the time of the initial investigation.
The murder of Kenneth Peevy sparked significant concern and fear within the community, particularly due to claims that a gang had vowed 100 days of violence in retaliation for his death. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau suspects that the killers were targeting any young African-American man as part of ongoing gang conflicts, suggesting that Peevy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, no arrests have been made in connection with Peevy's murder. The investigation remains open, and authorities continue to seek information from the public. Peevy's family, including his parents, siblings, and three young children, have been left devastated by his untimely death. They, along with law enforcement, urge anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice for Kenneth Peevy.
