Clayton Mickel Shuford, an 18-year-old resident of Westmont, California, tragically lost his life on June 5, 2014. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Shuford was shot and killed near South Vermont Avenue and West 91st Street. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 5:30 a.m., when deputies responded to a call reporting a gunshot victim in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered Shuford in a dark-colored Ford Mustang, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported hearing loud arguing followed by several gunshots before the car, which was seen traveling eastbound on West 91st Street, collided with the center median on South Vermont Avenue. Shuford was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:49 a.m.
The investigation into Shuford's death revealed that he was a promising young man, attending Southwest College and preparing for his finals. His family and friends described him as full of life and well-loved by those who knew him. Despite the tragic circumstances, they emphasized that Shuford was not involved in gang activities and was focused on his education and future.
