Eric Martinez, a 19-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on March 8, 2014, in the Harvard Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 1:35 a.m. when Martinez was walking home with a 28-year-old friend. As they were near the 3000 block of Country Club Drive, at least two men approached them from behind and opened fire. Martinez was struck multiple times and collapsed behind parked cars. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m.
