On a cold January evening in Baltimore, Maryland, the life of Sherman Leonard Johnson, a 59-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On January 23, 2017, in the 3800 block of Oakford Avenue in the Northwest District of the city, Johnson was fatally shot. The Baltimore Police Department swiftly identified him as the victim of the homicide and opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
