Taylor Ann Sato, a 25-year-old resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, tragically passed away on July 23, 2022. Born on November 12, 1996, in Absecon, New Jersey, Taylor moved to Fort Pierce in 2000. She was a devoted mother to her son, Carter Jacob, and was known for her love of the beach and spending time with friends. Taylor attended St. Andrew's Elementary and Samuel Gaines Academy before graduating from Westwood High School in 2015. At the time of her death, she was working as a server at

The circumstances surrounding Taylor's death were both tragic and violent. On the early morning of July 23, 2022, Taylor was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, Robert Castro. The incident occurred at a residence on Timber Ridge Lane in Fort Pierce. According to court records and statements from the prosecution, Castro shot Taylor 13 times, with several shots fired at close range. The medical examiner's report indicated that Taylor was shot multiple times in the head, neck, and back, with one shot being fired at point-blank range to her temple.
Following the shooting, Castro called 911 to confess to the crime, although he did not initially identify himself. When police arrived at the scene, they found Taylor's body in the driveway, just a few feet from the front door. Castro had already fled the scene but later surrendered to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. During his trial, Castro claimed that he acted in self-defense, stating that he believed Taylor was reaching for a firearm during an altercation. However, the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder with a firearm.
The trial, which lasted four days, included testimonies from various witnesses and detailed accounts of the contentious relationship between Taylor and Castro. The couple, who shared a 4-year-old son, had been going through a breakup since May 2022. Despite their separation, they continued to communicate, and there had been several calls for service at Taylor's residence due to disputes between them. The jury ultimately convicted Castro, rejecting his self-defense claim and holding him accountable for the premeditated murder of Taylor Ann Sato.
