Antion Lamar Shade Jr., a 23-year-old resident of Ocala, Florida, tragically lost his life on June 10, 2022. The incident occurred during a drive-by shooting in the northwest area of Ocala. Shade was standing with a group of people in the 2400 block of Northwest Third Street when a vehicle drove by, and an occupant or occupants opened fire. Shade was struck in the chest, while his cousin, Russell Tolbert, was shot in the leg.
Despite immediate medical attention, Shade succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
The Ocala Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Authorities have not disclosed a description of the vehicle involved, and it remains unclear if the shooting was connected to another drive-by incident that occurred the previous week at the nearby Laurel Park Apartments. In that incident, a 14-year-old boy was shot twice but survived.
The investigation into Shade's death is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
