Jacorie McCullough, a 23-year-old resident of Ocala, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 25, 2022, in a shooting incident that occurred in the parking lot of the 7 Days Food Store located at 2002 NW First Ave., Ocala. According to reports, McCullough was involved in an altercation with a 14-year-old boy who had approached a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the parking lot and removed a backpack from the back passenger area.
McCullough, who was inside the vehicle, confronted the boy and managed to retrieve the backpack. This confrontation escalated when three other males arrived at the scene, leading to a physical struggle between McCullough and one of the males, Leandre Rashad Cox, who was armed with a handgun. During the scuffle, Cox pointed the firearm at McCullough, resulting in McCullough being shot and subsequently falling to the ground. He was later transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
