Khiem Ba Trinh, a 56-year-old resident of Mount Dora, Florida, tragically lost his life on November 30, 2020. Trinh, along with his wife Minh Nguyen, owned and operated the T&N Market, a convenience store in Mount Dora. On the night of November 30, 2020, the couple was closing their store when an armed robber entered. The assailant, dressed in black clothing and a mask, demanded money. Despite Nguyen's pleas for mercy, the robber shot both Trinh and Nguyen.
Nguyen died at the scene, while Trinh was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 3, 2020.
The investigation into the double homicide has been extensive and ongoing. The Mount Dora Police Department, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the State Attorney’s Office, has been working tirelessly to solve the case. Security footage from the store captured the masked gunman, but no arrests have been made. The suspect was seen wearing a hoodie and other black clothing, and he fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
In the months following the incident, the police have received numerous leads and continue to pursue them. Interim Mount Dora Police Chief Brett Meade has expressed confidence that the case will be solved, emphasizing the importance of forensic evidence in the investigation. Despite the lack of eyewitnesses, the community has been supportive, and a reward of up to $10,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
One individual, Undrea Dixon, was arrested and charged with providing false statements in an official proceeding. Dixon allegedly entered the store after the shooting, saw Trinh in pain, and left without rendering aid or contacting law enforcement. Dixon later lied about her actions, which led to her arrest. She pleaded no contest in April 2021, but this did not directly solve the murder case.
