Asbury, who was 21 years old at the time of his arrest, faced charges of murder and attempted murder. The investigation revealed that the shooting was a drive-by, and the vehicle used in the crime was later found burned in a field in Riviera Beach. Emmanuel Yisreal, another suspect, was also charged with homicide and weapons offenses. Yisreal, a former high school football standout, had been in jail on unrelated charges since October 2019. A third suspect, Clarence Kelley IV, was indicted in November 2020, and a fourth individual was mentioned in the investigation but had not been charged as of the latest reports.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office launched "Operation Full-Court Press," which aimed to address the broader crime issues in the area. This operation resulted in approximately 50 arrests and targeted problematic landlords and other contributors to the local crime problem.
