The investigation quickly led to the identification and arrest of two suspects from Georgia. Wayne Taylor, 19, and Troymel Barnes, 21, were apprehended with the assistance of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office in Georgia. Both men were charged with second-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. Surveillance footage and other evidence collected during the investigation played a crucial role in linking the suspects to the crime.
In the subsequent legal proceedings, Wayne Taylor was found guilty of manslaughter and armed robbery. He received a sentence of 30 years in prison, with 15 years for each charge to be served consecutively.
