The investigation revealed that Langel was driving a white Infiniti with Lucson Joseph, who had an ongoing drug-debt dispute with Alex Senelus. On the evening of the incident, Joseph and Langel had gone to a nearby gas station to purchase a cigar. As they stopped at a red light, a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up beside them, and multiple shots were fired into their vehicle. Langel was struck in the head, and Joseph, who survived the attack, was later found wearing Langel's gold necklace, which he had stolen from the dying man.
Authorities quickly identified Alex Senelus as the primary suspect in the shooting. Senelus, who had a criminal history including robbery and weapons charges, was arrested a few weeks after the incident. He was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder, and several other weapons-related offenses. The motive for the killing was linked to a $500 drug debt that Joseph claimed Senelus owed him.
