On March 30, 2019, J'Martin Hixon, a 14-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in Lehigh Acres, Florida. The incident occurred around 7:01 p.m. at the intersection of Cedartree Avenue and Centennial Boulevard. J'Martin had arranged to meet the buyer of an item he posted online. During the exchange, one of the two males he met brandished a firearm and shot J'Martin. In the ensuing gunfire, J'Martin returned fire, striking one of the assailants.
