Roy A. Pike III, a 28-year-old resident of North Fort Myers, Florida, tragically lost his life on May 15, 2017, in Cape Coral. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of Cornwallis Parkway, where Pike was found suffering from gunshot wounds outside a home. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. investigation revealed that Pike was shot multiple times by 27-year-old Ryan Doyon. According to the arrest report, Doyon claimed that he woke up to find Pike holding a gun to his forehead, demanding that he open his safe. In response, Doyon grabbed his M-4 assault rifle and began shooting at Pike, chasing him outside the house and continuing to fire. Witnesses reported seeing Pike fall multiple times before collapsing face down on the ground, where police later found him. Notably, there was no evidence that Pike was armed or that he fired any shots during the incident.
Ryan Doyon was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was held in Lee County Jail without bond. The case proceeded to trial, where Doyon faced charges not only for the murder of Pike but also for discharging a firearm in public.
