On the evening of October 16, 2016, a tragic shooting occurred in Hallandale Beach, Florida, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Wajiyb Williams. The incident took place around 8 p.m. on the 700 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue. Williams, along with a 17-year-old companion, was shot and subsequently ran to Foster Road, where they collapsed. Both victims were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital.
Unfortunately, Williams succumbed to his injuries, while the 17-year-old survived and was reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the gunfire erupted in a neighborhood known for frequent violence, often referred to by locals as "Drama Avenue." Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing the victims bleeding on the ground. A white SUV, riddled with bullet holes, was found at the scene, but its connection to the shooting remained unconfirmed by the police.
Despite the efforts of the Hallandale Beach Police Department, the shooter fled the scene and has not been apprehended. The motive behind the shooting was speculated to be related to an ongoing neighborhood dispute, described by a resident as "inside beef." The police urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward, offering anonymity and a potential reward for tips leading to an arrest.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Wajiyb Williams. The investigation remains open, with authorities continuing to seek leads and gather evidence to bring the perpetrator to justice.
