Martin Christopher Plummer, a 32-year-old resident of Lehigh Acres, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 20, 2014, in a violent incident that shocked the local community. On that evening, the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at Plummer's residence located at 3317 W. 12th St. Upon arrival, deputies found Plummer on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Plummer was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred during a drug transaction that went awry. Plummer had been involved in a deal to sell a large quantity of marijuana to three individuals: Quayshon Gregory Madison, Nelson Alberto Lopez, and Jonathan Zuluaga Hernandez. According to reports, Lopez had organized the transaction. During the exchange, Lopez and one of the other men allegedly stole the drugs and seized Plummer's handgun from the dining room table. In the ensuing struggle, Lopez fatally shot Plummer.
The authorities quickly apprehended the suspects. Quayshon Gregory Madison, 19, was arrested and charged with homicide murder not premeditated during another felony, as well as possession of marijuana over 20 grams. Nelson Alberto Lopez, 22, faced charges of homicide murder dangerous depraved without premeditation, weapon offense for discharging a missile into a dwelling, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of marijuana over 20 grams. Jonathan Zuluaga Hernandez, 25, was charged with the same offenses as Madison.
All three suspects were held at the Lee County Jail without bond. The legal proceedings for the accused began shortly after their arrests, with court appearances scheduled for April and May 2014. The case highlighted the dangers associated with illegal drug transactions and the tragic consequences that can arise from such activities. The community of Lehigh Acres mourned the loss of Martin Christopher Plummer, a father of seven, whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence.
