On a Monday evening in Baltimore, the life of 20-year-old Kennard James Bess was tragically cut short. On October 14, 2013, police responded to a call and found Kennard lying on the sidewalk in the 2600 block of East Chase Street. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:47 p.m. Kennard, a resident of the 1100 block of North Lakewood Avenue, was a male who was remembered as a loving father to his young daughter.
