In the early morning hours of July 26, 2013, violence shattered the quiet of a street in the McElderry Park neighborhood of East Baltimore. Deontrey Thompson, a 19-year-old Black male from the Broadway East neighborhood, was with another man in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street when gunfire erupted at approximately 1:30 a.m.
