On December 28, 2022, Joshua Robert Fort, a 33-year-old male from the small city of Milan in Dodge and Telfair counties, was found dead outside a building on Mt. Zion Street in the heart of downtown. Deputies from the Telfair County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, where Fort's body lay near the structure, turning an otherwise quiet winter day into the beginning of a major death investigation.
