In the late hours of November 1, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the night's quiet at an apartment complex on East Welch Street in Sylvester, Georgia. When police arrived around 11 p.m., they discovered 32-year-old Kentravis Kwane Rutland suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in nearby Albany, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he died shortly after arrival. Rutland was an African American male.
