In the late afternoon of Sunday, August 21, 2022, the sound of gunshots pierced the air on Neese Street in Eastman, Georgia. When Eastman Police Department officers arrived at 6:36 p.m., they found a car that had crashed into a tree. Inside the wrecked vehicle was 21-year-old Za'Quon Brown of Oglethorpe, who was found deceased from a gunshot wound. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was subsequently called to lead the homicide investigation.
