Richard Luther Redd, a 66-year-old Black man, was killed in Baltimore, Maryland, on the night of November 16, 2012. He was walking along the 3000 block of Elgin Avenue when an unknown assailant approached and opened fire, turning an ordinary stretch of sidewalk into a sudden, violent scene.
Police arrived within minutes, but the gunfire had already done its work. Officers found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at about 10:15 p.m.
