In the autumn of 2021, the life of Laron Benjamin, a 32-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short in his own home in Clarkston, Georgia. On the afternoon of Monday, October 4th, a maintenance worker at the Highland Village Apartments on Ponce de Leon Avenue made a grim discovery. Inside one of the units, the worker found Benjamin deceased, having been shot at least once.
