On the night of May 26, 2021, Sheikevious Young, a 21-year-old Black female, was driving home from her job as a security guard. As she traveled along Interstate 285 northbound near the Church Street exit in DeKalb County, Georgia, her silver 2019 Nissan Versa was struck by multiple bullets. The gunfire shattered a window of her vehicle and left her with critical injuries. The incident occurred just before midnight.
