In the early morning hours of March 31, 2019, a night that began with the sounds of music at a concert in Folkston, Georgia, ended in a burst of violence that claimed the life of 21-year-old Sheeyta Elaine Herrin. A Black female from Camden County, Herrin was in the parking lot of the American Legion on Okefenokee Drive as the event was letting out. It was approximately 3:21 a.m. when gunfire erupted, and a single bullet struck and fatally wounded her.
