On the evening of September 14, 2017, Jermaine Payne, a 34-year-old African American male, was fatally shot as he walked into the Sierra Townhomes on Godby Road in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. After shooting Payne, the assailant stole his property and fled the scene on foot.
