In the small community of Lyons, Georgia, a life was tragically cut short on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Calem Copeland, a 24-year-old male, died from a gunshot wound in what investigators would later describe as a heartbreaking accident. A lifelong resident of Toombs County and a graduate of Toombs County High School, Copeland was a U.S. Army veteran who had served a tour in Afghanistan. After his military service, he worked as a security officer at the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Power Plant.
