In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Atlanta, Georgia, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of one family. Lovelace Lamont Shirley, a 39-year-old African American man, was on Macedonia Road in the southeastern part of the city on May 9, 2015, when he became the victim of a fatal act of violence. In what law enforcement has described as an apparent drive-by shooting, Shirley was struck by at least one bullet and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
