In the early morning hours of July 27, 2014, the life of 24-year-old Cortez Dowell, an African American male, was tragically cut short in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident unfolded inside a residence in the 2900 block of Orchard Lane, near the area of Jonesboro Road and Hutchens Road. When police responded to a call about a person being shot just before 4 a.m., they discovered Dowell critically wounded. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
