On August 31, 1974, the lives of 29-year-old Juanita Akins and her husband of just twenty days, 38-year-old Joseph Ronald Akins, were brought to a violent and tragic end in a secluded, developing subdivision in Bibb County, Georgia. The couple had been lured to the location under the pretense of installing a television antenna. Upon their arrival, they were ambushed in their car by assailants who fired a shotgun at close range, killing them both.
