In the early hours of July 5, 2017, the life of Eric Jackson, a 29-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short on Homestead Street in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood. At approximately 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a person shot and discovered Jackson lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate arrival of emergency responders, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
