On June 18, 1983, 21-year-old Kevin Paule and his fiancée, 25-year-old Sharon Winker, both residents of Mascoutah, Illinois, decided to spend their day fishing along the west bank of Silver Creek, approximately half a mile west of Mascoutah. This serene location was a favored spot for the couple, who were planning to marry the following year. Unbeknownst to them, this outing would tragically be their last.
