In the spring of 2009, a family's life was irrevocably altered by an act of violence that remains unresolved. On the morning of Friday, April 24, 2009, John Davis, an 18-year-old African-American male, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. in the vicinity of 71 Homestead Street. Despite the immediate response and efforts of Boston EMS, John Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
