In the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans, a 13-year-old male named Byron Thomas was fatally shot on the evening of March 15, 2022. The young male was walking to a local store to meet a friend at the corner of South Roman Street and Washington Avenue when gunfire erupted. He was struck by the bullets and died at the scene.
