Clara Hardwell, 33, a Black woman, was building a life in West Monroe, Louisiana—known to many as a hairdresser with a steady presence in her community—when an argument outside a Linderman Avenue residence spiraled into gunfire on September 23, 2021. Police responding to the 100 block of Linderman Avenue said the dispute unfolded in the front yard of a home and ended with Hardwell being shot multiple times; she was rushed to a local hospital, where she died.
