On the evening of Wednesday, June 30, 2021, Ceyonne Riley, a 25-year-old mother and student, was driving on the Pontchartrain Expressway in New Orleans when she was struck by gunfire. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries two days later, on Friday, July 2, 2021. The shooting occurred as Riley was driving home, and investigators believe the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle.
