On the evening of Wednesday, June 23, 2021, a fatal altercation unfolded on Lakeside Drive near Gueydan and Lake Arthur, Louisiana, ending the life of 55-year-old Anthony Joseph Caro Jr. The man, a resident of the area, suffered a fatal gunshot wound during a dispute. The incident prompted a response from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office after they received reports of a shooting.
