In the early evening of January 4, 2021, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a vehicle carrying 26-year-old Aurtrell Bivens and a juvenile was traveling northbound in the 1400 block of North 23rd Street. Suddenly, without a clear motive, one or more individuals opened fire on their vehicle. Both occupants were struck by the gunfire. The juvenile passenger sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Bivens, however, was critically wounded and rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
