On September 1, 2019, Jody Arcediano, a 36-year-old male, was discovered deceased inside a room at the Microtel Inn and Suites on Plaza Americana Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Authorities had been called to the hotel around 11:15 a.m. regarding a shooting and found Arcediano with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation into his death was swiftly treated as a homicide.
