In the early morning hours of February 16, 2019, a tragic discovery was made in the 600 block of Austerlitz Street in New Orleans. Inside a truck, 31-year-old Irvin Richardson Jr. was found, having been fatally shot. The New Orleans Police Department was called to the scene at 7:04 AM, where he was pronounced dead. The case was quickly determined to be a homicide.
