On the evening of November 18, 2018, in Garyville, Louisiana, 34-year-old Lorenzo Eugene, an African American male, was shot and killed in what authorities described as an ambush-style attack. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. near his residence on South Fig Street. According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, it is believed that someone was waiting for Eugene to emerge from his home before opening fire.
