Toussaint James Johnson Jr., 28, a Black male from New Iberia, Louisiana, died on June 27, 2018, after a late-night burst of gunfire shattered the quiet around Corrine Street. A little after 9:00 p.m., deputies in the area heard shots near the intersection of Corrine Street and Lombard Street, then moved in to search for where the sound had come from.
